چکیده

This paper proposes an iterative multiuser detector for a direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system based on the iterative technique of Gauss-Seidel for solving linear algebraic equations. The detector starts with soft iterations, that is, no hard decisions are made until (near) signal decorrelation is achieved. The signals at this point are passed to an amplitude/phase estimator, and the iterative detector continues using hard decisions of the estimated symbols to achieve improved reliability. Only small blocks of data are required for estimation and no phase tracking loop and power control loops are needed. It is shown that this detection method achieves substantial gains over the decorrelator in systems with high load at a computational complexity of O(NK) per bit rather than O(NK 2) per bit for decorrelation (K is the number of users and N is the processing gain).

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

An Iterative Multiuser Detector for DS-CDMA

We propose an iterative multiuser detector for Turbo coded Direct Sequence CDMA (DS-CDMA) systems. The receiver is derived from the Maximum a-Posteriori (MAP) estimation of the single user’s transmitted data, conditioned on information about the estimate of the Multiple Access Interference (MAI) and the received signal from the channel. The complexity of the proposed receiver increases linearly...

Channel estimation for DS-CDMA with aperiodic spreading codes

For high performance CDMA communications, multiuser detection is often required to suppress the multiple access interference (MAI). Most multiuser detectors rely on accurate channel information to recover the multiuser digital signals. This paper studies the blind channel estimation problem for DS-CDMA systems using aperiodic spreading codes. The Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimator is formulated ...

Iterative Multiuser Detection for Turbo Coded Synchronous CDMA inGaussian and Non - Gaussian Impulsive

| In this paper, we develop an iterative multiuser receiver for decoding Turbo coded synchronous CDMA signals in both Gaussian and non-Gaussian noise. A soft-input soft-output non-linear multiuser detector is combined with a set of single user channel decoders in an iterative detec-tion/decoding structure. The non-linear multiuser detector utilizes the prior probabilities of each user's bits to...

Doubly Spread DS-CDMA for Efficient Interference Cancellation

In this paper, a new spreading scheme, which consists of two stages of spreading, is considered for DS-CDMA systems. The data of a user is spread first with a long signature sequence and then with a short signature sequence. The scheme combines the advantages of the two types of spreading techniques and allows us to suppress MAI by performing both beamforming and multiuser detection efficiently...
